Connect to the Divine with a Crown Chakra Opening

Connect to the Divine with a Crown Chakra Opening

Your crown chakra is your connection to the divine.Your crown chakra, which is physically located at the top of your head, is the “gateway” to the spiritual realm. When the chakra is open, you feel a desire to connect with Source (God) and to live in truth. This is the chakra that governs the upper brain and the central nervous system.

If the crown chakra is closed or blocked in some way, you experience periods of intense loneliness and abandonment, and a feeling of alienation, disconnectedness or separation. Overwhelm, distraction, existential angst (“Why am I here? What’s the point of life?”), depression and confusion are common, and in some cases mental illness. Physical ailments associated with a blocked crown chakra include lymphatic system problems, susceptibility to bacterial infections and skin rashes.

Opening your crown chakra will bring immense relief: deep spiritual connection, as well as a feeling of connection with other people, and profound inner peace.

Begin with a commitment to spiritual practice, whatever that means to you – do not confuse religion with spirituality as they are not necessarily one and the same. If doing yoga, meditation or contemplation are how you connect with your spiritual self, then that is just fine. Prayer, saying mantras and spiritual studies are some other methods.

Use a chanted mantra to open your crown chakra.Every day, say a mantra specific to the crown chakra. The word itself has meaning in the Sanskrit language, but more importantly, it is the sound vibration that heals the chakras. Say the mantra out loud so that the vibration can be felt physically in your body. Let the sound linger, allowing the vibration to resonate as long as possible.

The best chant to open the crown chakra is “OM” or the sound of creation.

When chanted properly, the mantra ersonates deep within the head. This stimulates the pineal gland, a tiny gland in the very center of the brain that is widely regarded as the seat of spirit within the physical body. The resonance will activate the crown chakra and help dissipate any negative energy stored there. The energy activated in this way is also called prana, chi, Source energy or universal energy.

Physically, stimulating the pineal and pituitary glands through chanting will stimulate the hypothalamus and result in a release of endorphins. So even on a purely physical level, it feels great to open your crown chakra! If you’re suffering from depression, this will help improve your mood. And that’s not all – the chant will stimulate the brain and cause neurons to fire into less-used areas of the brain, allowing you to use more of your immense mental potential.

Here’s the technique for proper use of the mantra:

Take a very deep breath and hold it for about 5-10 seconds.

Exhale slowly and evenly through the nose or mouth (whichever you prefer).

Repeat this two more times: this slows your brain’s activity and relaxes you.

Take another deep breath, and start chanting “OM”… letting the resonance of the MM linger.

Repeat the chant two more times.

Add the color purple to your environment. You may feel a tingling on top of the head (which is the physical location of the crown chakra). Later, you may feel an increase in your psychic abilities and ability to communicate with your Higher Self or your spirit guides. You will also feel very good as endorphins are released in the body.

For more crown chakra healing, wear the color purple; and add purple to your environment (for example lavender, amethyst).

Don’t concentrate just on the crown chakra, though, if you are having what you consider to be spiritual problems in your life – start at the bottom, at the root chakra, and work your way up!
