Chakra Cleansing Exercises For Every Day

Our body contains an intricate system of energy centers, connected together and absorbing energy from our surroundings, our foods, and the people we associate with. These energies are used for our basic physical and mental functions, and are needed in order to live a healthy and normal life. However, our bodies also contain seven key energy centers, the series of pulsing wheels or vortexes which run in a straight line from the top of the head, down the spine to the tailbone. These important, large and powerful energy centers, known as the seven chakras, are responsible for our overall physical well-being, as well as our connection with the earth we live on, our life force and drive to succeed and enlighten ourselves, and also our spiritual development and happiness.

When these chakras are healthy, they are described as ‘open’ or spinning, and pulsing away at a reasonably high rate. An open chakra both absorbs positive energy from one’s surroundings, as well as projecting it outwards and giving our bodies and minds the gifts of inspiration, drive and good health. However, as with our physical body, each chakra must be nurtured and kept in a harmonious state with the other six to avoid our energy centers becoming imbalanced – something which can lead to a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual ailments. Also as with our physical bodies, our chakras must be kept clean.

Cleansing the chakras is a relatively simple and enjoyable process which can easily become part of a daily routine, and can ensure good overall health, alongside the nurturing and developing of particular chakras which can enormously benefit the individual in a wide range of ways.

Recommended Exercise

Many chakra cleansing exercises are designed to focus our minds on the reality of our chakras, and can take only a couple of minutes of each day. By focusing our visualization skills on the energies of the body, we can learn to mentally and psychically control the flow of energy both entering and leaving our body, thus allowing the chakra to not only grow in strength and durability, but also allowing it to increase its influence over the aspect of our bodies and minds it is associated with.

A simple exercise to start with would be one which combines the disciplines of breathing, self healing, visualization and meditation, and which allows the entire chakra system to be cleansed thoroughly and regularly, without worry of stress, pressure or frustration. Should you begin experiencing discomfort or a lack of positive bodily and mental effectiveness from your cleansing exercise, experiment with another (there are countless ways to cleanse the chakras), or adapt it to suit you better.

Daily Practice

chakra cleansingIn order to quickly and easily cleanse your chakras each day, begin in a comfortable cross legged or standing position on the floor, or preferably, somewhere safe and calm outside. With your back straight, and your seven chakras in alignment, begin to breathe slowly and purposefully, with each intake of breath held slightly as your lungs feel full, and held slightly as you exhale and empty them.

Breathing deeply is a wonderful self healing method, and should be practiced daily – it also has the added benefit of automatically initiating deep relaxation and the beginnings of a meditative state. Continue for a minute or two, or until your body begins to loosen and relax, and you can feel your blood re-oxygenated and flowing comfortably around your body. Concentrate briefly on your chakras opening along your spine, and feel the energization of your entire form.

Begin to visualize a bright, golden light directly above your head. Feel it becoming brighter and brighter, and warmer and warmer, until it is enveloping your crown in pulsing waves of comfortable, caressing energy. As your crown chakra opens to accept this visualized energy source, picture it physically descended at the top of your head, and begin moving downwards through your body.

Keeping your back straight, let it pause a while roughly in the location of your forehead, and as you accept each deep intake of breath, allow it to descend down a stage further, into your next chakra, the throat. At each step, and at each breath, visualize this golden light and energy source literally cleansing and turning around inside your, wiping away any blockages or rough edges.

Move it down through your heart, your solar plexus, your sacral area and continue turning it and pushing it downwards towards the base of your spine. With one final deep exhalation, allow it to flow our of your root area in one, unbroken ribbon of light, taking with it any blockages or difficulties which may have been causing problems or imbalances. This cleansing process need not take more than five minutes, but should leave you feeling beautifully energized and harmonized, and ready to take on the world around you and enjoy all that you find as a part of your life.
