Can Your Friends Help Clear Your Chakras?

Can Your Friends Help Clear Your Chakras?

Be with friends who embody healthy chakrasI’m a big fan of the words sung by Ringo Starr, “I get by with a little help from my friends.” So true, aren’t they?

You can turn to your friends to help clear your chakras, too.

Of course, not just any friends (certainly not the negative, angry, depressed friends). Seek out friends who are positive, uplifting, happy and have a real zest for life. Then, to help you clear certain chakras, hang out with the friends who embody a particular healthy chakra.

To clear the root chakra, spend time with a friend who is prosperous and has a stable and happy family life. This friend will likely be very physically active, and spend lots of time outdoors (perfect, to get your endorphins flowing!). He or she will be grounded to the earth and make you feel safe and secure.

To clear the sacral chakra, hang out with an artistic friend who is full of passion and creativity. Go to gallery openings together. Do a plen air painting session together (who cares if you “can’t paint”? Have fun with colors!). This friend expresses a genuine appreciation for the life experience – catch it!

To clear the solar plexus chakra, turn to a friend who is a leader. But not just any leader – a leader who inspires others and practices what he or she preaches, and has achieved success. Let this friend inspire you with their confidence and self-esteem. Really, there’s no difference between this friend and you except mindset, which you will naturally adopt as you spend time together.

To clear the heart chakra, be with a friend who is compassionate, giving, loving, nurturing. Not only can you bask in this love, you can give it, together, by volunteering. Volunteering feels great, and if you do it with someone who’s a natural lover of humanity (or animals, or the environment, or whatever cause) you will become more compassionate and loving as well!

Intuitively seek out healthy, happy people! To clear the throat chakra, enjoy the company of a friend who is a good speaker, singer or writer. This friend has a way of expressing ideas so clearly and beautifully, that it will inspire you to clarify your own ideas and thoughts, and express them authentically. You can learn to mimic the way your friend expresses ideas, so that when it’s your turn – such as in a couple’s argument – you are better prepared to compassionately and openly state your point of view.

To clear the third eye chakra, seek out the visionaries. Your visionary friend has absolutely fabulous grand ideas – he or she can see the big picture, and help you move past your current problems. This friend is likely to inspire you to dream big and to actually ACT on that dream, because to them, there is no difference between “dream” and “reality.”

Finally, to clear the crown chakra, be in the presence of a friend who is enlightened. What does that mean? Someone who doesn’t judge; who openly accepts alternative points of view; who is unconditionally loving and kind; who genuinely loves life. Yes, people like this do exist, often in the most unlikely places.

This works because we unconsciously mirror the people around us, taking on their moods, speech patterns and behaviors. When a friend exhibits a behavior you admire – that you intuitively feel is an example of a healthy chakra or chakras – then consciously try to embody that behavior. The more you practice, the more it will become your reality!

Stop Being So Busy, to Heal Your Chakras!

We often feel trapped in a web of DOINGBusy-ness depletes your chakras. You probably know this intuitively, but it’s really really hard to avoid it, in today’s hurry-up-and-do-more-stuff world. We are, for the most part, rushed, overwhelmed, tired, stressed and a little or a lot hopeless about the whole thing. We often feel trapped in a web of hurrying up to meet other people’s expectations.

Multi-tasking and sleep deprivation are the norm. How many people actually sit down to a nice leisurely dinner anymore, let alone breakfast? Not many. Food is taken on the run, on the go, and it’s just fuel, not an enjoyable experience.

Our faces are glued to little glowing rectangles, and because we miss out on what’s going on around us, we feel like we’re missing out on life (sadly, true!). So when we have a little free time, we try to squeeze in as much “living” as we can. Which, ironically, leads to even more stress because there’s just never enough time to do what we want.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re bouncing around like a hyper-caffeinated monkey, you’re not alone. It’s modern life – but you CAN get off the treadmill. You CAN release the frenetic pace and in the process, redefine your life and heal your chakras.

It’s hard to let go of doing. We think that nothing will get done, if we slow down. But the reality is, we will NEVER GET IT ALL DONE. Ever. There’s just no way. Even if you’re fast, diligent and extraordinarily motivated, and you tick off everything on your to-do list, there will be another to-do list waiting for you tomorrow.

That’s just the way it is. There will NEVER be a day when you can finally kick back and spend the rest of your days doing nothing.

And how boring would that be, right?

So first and foremost, LET GO of the need to get it all done.

Instead, focus on smoothing out your energy by being less busy. Instead of a raging river with whitewater and turbulence, aim for a steady flow. Second, try slowing down so that what you do get done, is something you will be proud of. Something you’ll feel good about putting your name on. Take your time and focus on excellence in every task you do; take your time and appreciate the moments that make up your day; take your time and be present.

It’s not easy to slow down and live at a more unhurried pace. To “stop and smell the roses.” We’re conditioned to move fast and get a lot done! I’m not saying slack off and do things more slowly than they need to be done; I’m saying, stop RUSHING. Rushing leads to mistakes. Mistakes lead to do-overs and time wasted – not to mention the stress of having to deal with consequences. So work at a pace that is efficient, but not rushed.

Third, prioritize. You don’t have to do all the stuff you’re doing on a daily basis – number one on my list is to get rid of the TV. I know that’s a drastic move for many, but how about cutting your TV time to one hour a day? That’s plenty of time to relax and decompress from the day, and it frees up lots of time to exercise, meditate, take a luxurious bath, get a massage, have a hobby, make love, read, work on a goal, clean the house… all the things that get pushed aside when we realize that three hours have been sucked away (permanently) with a “reality” show.

When you slow down, and when you prioritize your life, you’ll suddenly find that you feel more whole… calmer… happier.

Spend some time in Nature, whenever you can. Meditate. Do all the stuff you’ve been putting off, to boost your confidence and self-esteem. Think about your dreams – really THINK about them. Visualize, plan, write, actively work on them.
